Dame Esther Rantzen
She has signed up to Dignitas the assisted dying clinic in Switzerland as she has lung cancer.
I hope that the publicity that she has generated will lead to another free vote in the House of Commons to change the law in this country so that loved ones don't have to risk up to 14 years in jail for helping anyone who wishes to commit assisted suicide when they are terminally ill.
Info from the BBC news.

I also agree. With some illnesses which are terminal why prolong the suffering both mentally and physical both for the person but for loved ones who have to go through this during and after the illness.

Apparently, it is always a free vote about this and the last time they had a vote on it was in 2015 when they decided to keep the status quo.

It will need very very strict laws and monitoring,no doubt big money will be involved.

How many with a illness of constant terrible daily pain with no cure for it and want to end their live can afford the expense to go to another country, especially a expensive country like Switzerland to carry out their decision.
The only alternative in our country for those who cannot afford the expense is to do kill themselves outside the law which results in a family having to face the fact that a loved one has been regarded as having commited a criminal offence.
We treat animals who have uncurible illnesses with more dignity!

See if she changes her mind should she be in the same situation at that age. At the end of the day it's Esther's choice and no one else's.

Slightly off track but I have just sorted out with the doctors for Do Not Resuscitate if any thing happens to Yvonne. This decision in its self was hard to do never mind assisted suicide.
